Adapted Aquatics

What is Adapted Aquatics?

Adapted Aquatics is swimming designed for people with neurological, developmental, and cognitive challenges, teaching them independent swimming and water safety skills. Each swimmer receives individualized, progressive instruction that makes learning achievable, sensory integrative and fun. Adapted Aquatics is sometimes called Adaptive Aquatics.

Our unique qualifications

Our instructors have multiple national certifications (including Certified Adapted Physical Educator, Adapted Aquatics Instructor) and extensive experience creating and implementing adapted aquatic programs at the Central Bucks Family YMCA and Fanny Chapman Swimming Pools. Instructors partner with parents and caregivers to understand specific goals and expectations, and develop customized swim lessons to meet each swimmer’s needs.
